Ladybug

nom nom

Niki found this ladybug out back today. I had to take pictures of her holding it. This is probably the best one.

It’s a beauty bug!

ladybug!

The girls and I spent hours in the backyard today. While I was clearing out the flower beds of weeds and grass, they played. They came across this precious little thing. While Niki held it, Maeby tried touching it. Except she kept jumping back just before she would.

She calls it a beautybug. You might be able to hear it in this video and she’s so cute in this one.

CrazyFace Maeby

Last night I gave the camera to Niki and let her go. This is a part of one of the videos she took.
She’s definitely Dave’s and my daughter.

Bringing out the asian in her

I bought Niki a pair of chopsticks on Wednesday at Uwajimaya in Seattle. Both Ams and I tried to teach her how to use them, but failed miserably. Then today I look toward the table. She’s using them correctly while eating GRAPES with them!

I asked her who taught her how to use them. She said in a very confident voice, “I learned on my own”.

I’m so proud.

Freedom

freedom!

I chased her around the playground with the camera at my waist.
Wanted to see if I’d get some fancy photos that way.

Believe it or not, this photo was one of them.

Spring fever

energy

Ams & I took the girls to the community playground for the first time. It was a great way to start off the Spring season, especially since Niki is on break. Nine straight days of the never-ending energy that radiates from her. I needed to find an outlet for her to expel as much of it as possible so as not to drive me insane.

For over an hour we chased the girls around with our cameras, as well as played with them on the swings and play area. Normally I couldn’t last that long, but I’m guessing all their energy and excitement rubbed off on me.. a little.

I loved it. So did she.

No shoes, no shirt

Maybe one day in the future you’ll ask me why I haven’t posted up a lot of pictures of you recently. It’s not because I don’t think you’re adorable or anything. As a matter of fact, you might actually be too cute for anyone’s good. Everyone who knows you now will agree with me when I say this.

You hold us captive with the sparkle in your eyes, the chunks of your cheeks, the singsong of your voice, and your infectious laugh. Your ability to shock us everytime you do something new keeps us entertained. I’d absolutely LOVE to put up more photos and videos of you, but there’s one problem.

You won’t wear anything but your training pants.

Hell. If you had it your way, you’d drop those too. Trust me. I completely understand. That’s why I have no problem with you running around the house with nothing but your Pull-Ups on. Enjoy it while you can because when you’re older, you will have to wear more. At least, most of the time.

The thing is, because I allow you to run around that way, most moments captured on camera will be of you like that. You will thank me when you’re older that I held back. Because at this very moment I would love nothing more than to post pictures of your cuteness all over the internet for the whole world to enjoy with me.

So I’ll hold myself back and post only the photos and videos where you’re at least wearing a shirt with your training pants. At least, I’ll try. Except, every now and then there will be one that I couldn’t resist putting up.

I blame you. For being so cute.

Baeby Boxing

We’ll probably get harassed by people who think we’re promoting violence, but I’d like to think of it more like the first step to learning self-defense. That, and I see nothing wrong with punching someone in the face for being a complete asshole for no good reason. (Yeah. I’m looking at you, person who wants to tell me what a bad parent/person I am for this.)

Warning: Niki gets a little crazy because it’s getting close to the end.

Funny things she says #1

Niki quotes from January to February 2009.

On January 18, 2009

I mentioned casually that we were getting old. This surprised Niki and she couldn’t help but ask, “Daddy? Is you and mommy going to die?”

On January 18, 2009

Just after I kissed the hubs lightly before he left for work.

“Eeeeeeewww!”

On January 19, 2008

Whata funka?! #

On February 17, 2009

I’m a little kid. I don’t know! #

*We recently started a twitter account for Niki to keep up to the minute updates of the funny things she says. We’ll be (attempting) to post digests for every two months.
